Following a rather animated discussion of Bitcoin at a recent social, we've invited some people with first-hand experience of using it, to give us an inside perspective on what exactly blockchain is, and why so many people trust it.

Cryptocurrency has a reputation for being only useful for criminals, but our first venue, Sandbar, now accepts Bitcoin but not cash. Blockchain is the hip new technology people are seemingly using for everything now, but how many of these applications need it and how many are only using it to sound cool?

Can it be regulated, as politicians want, and should it? Is the technology sustainable, given the size of the Bitcoin blockchain and the amount of graphics cards and energy being poured into extending it?
